Four affordable wines I highly recommend
Thought I would post a few bottles of wine that we’ve really been enjoying lately, all in the $10-13ish per bottle region. I’ve noted where the wineries are but grapes may come from different regions.
Gladiator Cycles Pinot Noir - 2006 (Central Coast Cali)
I’ve brought this out for many guest and friends and they always love this bottle. It’s medium to light bodied, with a lot of berries coming forward. Whenever I see it on the shelf I immediately buy a few bottles. If you live in Chicago you can find this at Sam’s.
Acacia “A” Pinot Noir - 2006 (Napa)
We visited the Acacia winery while in Napa and we absolutely loved their wines. This is actually their lowest priced pinot and I was surprised at what a great value it is. Acacia only makes Pinot Noir and Chardonnay mainly from the Carneros region in Napa. If you have a chance to try their other wines I would. We found this one very easy to drink with juicy fruit and toasted oak flavors. If you live in Chicago we found it at World Market.
Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc - 2007 (New Zealand)
First tried this one while eating at Hachi’s Kitchen with sushi and I was amazed. It’s very crisp and it finishes with the right amount of acidity. I’ve served this one a bunch of times and everyone is really pleased. You can find this at Sam’s as well.
Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc (10% Vognier) - 2007 (Napa)
The first Chenin Blanc wine I had was in Napa at Elizabeth Spencer Winery and this was my second. It was recommended to me by a Sam’s associate for my wife’s birthday party. The grape is originally from the Loire valley of France. I really love it, if you enjoy the lighter, crisper white wines than this should suit you very well.
